Introduction

The Library is headed by Mariah binti Haji Kamis, the Chief Law Librarian.  Assisting her are Jusnitavaty binti Bohari, Assistant Chief Law Librarian and Pengiran Zamilie bin Pengiran Haji Masuhor, Proof Reader.

Roles on duty

The library’s main task is to keep and maintain an updated copy of the laws of Brunei Darussalam for reference. It also provides essential source of information to the officers of the Attorney General’s Chambers. The library staffs are responsible for liaising with the Government Printing Department for the process of publishing Government Gazettes.

The Collection

Besides having an extensive collection of both legal and non-legal materials, documents, text books, reference materials, encyclopedias, Brunei Court Judgments and even legislation dating back to the British administration, it has also other legal information sources such as LawNet Singapore, LawNet Malaysia and LexisNexis databases.

Book loan

The library is to cater specially for the officers of the Attorney General’s Chambers and therefore not open to members of the public. The public can make enquiries to the librarian regarding availability of any particular legislation. Facilities in the library are available for research studies by the Government officers having “consent to prosecute” and students. Students are required to present a letter of confirmation from their respective educational institutions.
