​​INTRODUCTION

Law Library of the Attorney General's Chambers was established in the 1980's. It is also known as a "Special   Library" which provides specialized information on a particular subject, serve a specialized and limited clientele, and deliver specialized services to that clientele.

The library is situated on the 2nd floor of the Law Building which consists of 2 levels and is primarily cater for the use of AGC's officers and staffs only. The library has a collection of more than 17,000 volumes consisting of textbooks, law reports, journals, serials and statutes. The books are arranged according to the Library of Congress Classification (LCC).

On level 1, is the main entrance near the counter where there is a self-loan station, desktop terminal, gazettes, textbooks, journals and reading rooms. Level 2 is a collection of legal materials and reports.

CORE RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Statute Keeper.
  • Provides library services to AGC officers and staffs and the public (subject to approval of the Attorney General).
  • Provides sales service for Laws of Brunei, Brunei Constitutional Documents, Judgment of the Courts of Brunei Darussalam and Brunei Law Reports.
  • Administrator of legal online databases i.e. LawNet Malaysia, LawNet Singapore, Practical Law and Westlaw Asia.​
