3 July 2024 - The Attorney General, Yang Berhormat Datin Paduka Dayang Hajah Nor Hashimah binti Haji Mohammed Taib, this morning received a courtesy call from Honourable Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon of Singapore and delegation held at the Laila Kanun Room, 3rd Floor, The Law Building, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam.
During this courtesy call, the Honourable Attorney General and the Honourable Chief Justice of Singapore shared perspectives on several legal issues of mutual interest, including recent legal developments in their respective countries and they also explored opportunities for cooperation and capacity-building initiatives between both institutions.
The delegation included His Excellency Mr Laurence Bay, Singapore High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam, Justice Kannan Ramesh, Justice Andre Maniam and other senior officials.
Also present during the courtesy call was Solicitor General, Yang Mulia Hjh Zuraini binti Hj Sharbawi and Senior officers of the Attorney General's Chambers.
In the afternoon, the Honourable Attorney General, the Solicitor General and officers of the Attorney Generals' Chambers attended a Talk by the Honourable Chief Justice of Singapore entitled: “The role of an effective and efficient judiciary in promoting economic development: the Singapore perspective". This was held at the Supreme Court, in the capital.
