Workshop on the Promotion of the ASEAN IP Register: Gearing Towards a Data-driven IP Strategy in Business
Bandar Seri Begawan, 26 May 2025 – Brunei Intellectual Property Office (BruIPO), in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property (WIPO) has organized a workshop entitled “Promotion of the ASEAN IP Register: Gearing Toward a Data-driven IP Strategy in Business." The workshop aimed to raise awareness and promote the use of the ASEAN IP Register platform as a strategic tool to support businesses and innovation.
The ASEAN IP Register is an online platform that provides access to data and statistics from the ASEAN Intellectual Property Offices. This platform is designed to help intellectual property (IP) owners, researchers, and other stakeholders in conducting IP searches and making informed decisions related to markets, innovation, and the protection of intellectual property assets.
During the workshop, participants were introduced to the various types of intellectual property, the registration process and its importance, and how the ASEAN IP Register can be used to support business strategies. The session also demonstrated how data from the ASEAN IP Register can be used for market research, products development, and marketing planning.
The participants had the opportunity to engage and share ideas directly with IP experts from WIPO and BruIPO on the management and protection of intellectual property. The event brought together approximately 80 participants from government, academia, businesses, and the legal sector in the fields of intellectual property, to foster awareness and understanding of the role of IP in supporting economic growth and building business competitiveness at both national and regional levels.
