The Guest of Honour, Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Paduka Dayang Hajah Nor Hashimah binti Haji Muhammed Taib, the Attorney General and Registrar of Trade Marks, Patents, and Industrial Designs, delivered the opening remarks. She emphasised the importance of IP against counterfeit goods especially pertaining to health which can pose serious threats to public's safety and that even if the number of prosecuted IP cases relating to counterfeit products remains relatively low compared to other jurisdictions, there is still a need to strengthen awareness, vigilance and enforcement readiness. This requires collective responsibility from government agencies, the private sector and the public. She further emphasized that it is a shared duty to remain vigilant and to ensure that Brunei Darussalam continues to be a safe marketplace for consumers and a fair environment for legitimate businesses.
