Permanent Secretary - Media and Cabinet

 

Awang Haji Mahrub bin Awang Haji Murni holds a Master (Education) in Management and married to Dayang Hajah Seimah binti Hj Abd Salam. They are blessed with 7 children.

He received a few state decoration and medals such as Pingat Indah Kerja Baik (PIKB), Pingat Kerja Lama (PKL) and Pingat Seri and Darjah Setia Negara Brunei yang Amat Bahagia (PSB).

Awang Haji Mahrub started his career as a teacher in 1984 to educate pre-university students at Pusat Tingkatan Enam, now known as Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah.

He was promoted as Deputy Principal of Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah in 1990. Later as Principal Sayiddina Umar Al-Khatab Secondary School 1994 – 1998, Principal SMJA Secondary School   1998 – 2003 and Principal Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah 2003 – 2004. Awang Haji Mahrub afterwards promoted as Assistant Director Co-Curricular Education Department, Ministry of Education 2004 – 2007.

Awang Haji Mahrub joined the Prime Minister’s Office as the Director of Information, Information Department from 2007 – 2008, then as Director of Radio Television Brunei  2008 – 2009.

Awang Haji Mahrub promoted as Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office on the 25th September 2009. In 2011, he was promoted as Permanent Secretary (Core Education) in the Ministry of Education.

As of 30 August 2012, Awang Haji Mahrub bin Awang Haji Murni was transferred to the Prime Minister’s Office as Permanent Secretary (Media and Cabinet) in the Prime Minister’s Office.

Currently he sits in Board Chair of Special Olympics Brunei Darussalam and he is also the Chairman of Public Relations Committee for the Government Ministries and Departments.

In his leisure, Haji Mahrub plays badminton, football, futsal and cycle.
