Mission

• To Deliver the Highest Quality Legal Service Through the Effective Interpretation and Application of International Law

The International Affairs Division is responsible for providing legal advice to the Government ministries and departments, and statutory bodies, on all matters relating to public international law, including the interpretation and application of international law and on the incorporation and implementation of Brunei Darussalam’s international obligations into domestic law.

The Division assists in the drafting, negotiation and vetting of a wide range of bilateral and multilateral instruments, such as treaties, agreements, exchange of notes, instruments of ratification and accession and memoranda of understanding.

The Division also represents Brunei Darussalam at relevant international meetings and negotiations and assists in the preparation of national reports to treaty bodies in fulfilling its obligations as a member of a particular organisation or treaty.
