The Brunei Intellectual Property Office (BruIPO) is responsible for the administration, protection and promotion of intellectual property rights in Brunei Darussalam. Through an efficient and reliable IP system, BruIPO supports innovation, creativity and economic development, and is committed to delivering efficient and high-quality IP services to innovators, creators, businesses and the public.

The core responsibilities of BruIPO include the registration of trademarks, patents and industrial designs, as well as the administration of copyright matters. BruIPO also supports the development and review of intellectual property policy and legislation, facilitates Brunei Darussalam’s participation in regional and international IP initiatives, and supports the country’s accession to international intellectual property treaties.

In addition, BruIPO promotes awareness and understanding of intellectual property through public outreach, stakeholder engagement and capacity-building initiatives. BruIPO works closely with Government ministries and agencies, educational institutions and international partners to strengthen Brunei Darussalam’s intellectual property ecosystem and encourage the protection, management and commercialisation of intellectual property assets.
